Air Pressure And Air Masses
Key Points
1) Air mass is a large volume of air with climate conditions of the area where it formed
2) The weight of the air is called air pressure
3) Air pressure is affected by the temperature of the Earth
4) Warm air = low pressure and vice versa
5) Wind occurs when air moves from a high pressure area to a low pressure area
6) The Earth contains pressure belts that create prevailing winds

Summary
When we experience wind, it is because of the pressure and mass of the air. Air pressure is the weight of the air, where air mass is the overall temperature and mass of the air. The Earth's temperature determines the air pressure, the Earths surface radiates alot of heat, the air pressure will be lower. When wind moves from a high pressure to a low pressure area, it causes winds to occur.
